Two Men Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Grievous Hurt By Dangerous Means

The Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 24, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means.

On 14 February 2022 at about 8.20am, the Police were alerted to a case where a 22-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by two men along Seletar West Road. The 22-year-old man suffered multiple injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that both men are known to the victim and the assault supposedly arose due a prior dispute. Two metal objects were also purportedly used in the assault.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of both men and arrested them on the same day. Investigations against the 24-year-old man are ongoing.

The 21-year-old man will be charged in court on 16 February 2022 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means under Section 326 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of life imprisonment; or imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years and shall also be liable to caning; or if he is not sentence to imprisonment for life, liable to a fine.

The Police will spare no effort to track down those who commit such brazen acts and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law.
