Two Men Arrested For A Series Of E-Commerce Scams

The Police have arrested two men, aged 17 and 25, for two separate cases of e-commerce scams reported in the month of January 2022.

In the first case, three victims were purportedly scammed and defrauded of their money, amounting to about $27,000, by a 17-year-old man, who had allegedly sold counterfeit bags as authentic luxury bags to all three victims.

In the second case, two victims were purportedly cheated of $300 by a 25-year-old man who selling PS5. After payments were made by the victims, the man allegedly did not deliver the items and used the received funds for his personal expenses.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of both the men and arrested them on 15 February 2022.

Both suspects are currently being investigated for the offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
