The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voyeurism.

On 1 March 2022, at about 8.20pm, an off-duty female civilian officer from the Public Transport Security Command spotted a man allegedly taking an upskirt video of a female victim on the escalator at Serangoon MRT station.

Through follow-up tracing and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Public Transport Security Command established the identity of the man and arrested him on 2 March 2022. Police investigations are ongoing.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in several similar cases of voyeurism at various MRT stations island-wide.

The offence of voyeurism under Section 377BB of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, a fine, caning, or any combinations of such punishments.

The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community and perpetrators will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
