Two Men To Be Charged For Operating Unlicensed Massage Establishments

The Police will be charging two men, aged 54 and 64, for their suspected involvement in operating an unlicensed massage establishment along Upper Serangoon Road.

During enforcement operations conducted by Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 8 March 2021 and 11 August 2021, the 54-year-old and 64-year-old man were each found to be allegedly operating a unit providing massage services without a valid licence along the said location.

The 64-year-old man will be charged in court on 23 March 2022 with carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence under Section 5(1) of the Massage Establishments Act 2017.

The 54-year-old man will be charged in court on 30 March 2022 with carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence under Section 5(1) of the Massage Establishments Act 2017.

The offence carries a fine not exceeding S$10,000, imprisonment of up two years, or both. For repeat offenders, the offence carries a fine not exceeding S$20,000, imprisonment of up five years, or both.

The Police take a serious view against any person who may be involved in such illicit business operations and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
