The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of a negligent act causing grievous hurt at a sheltered walkway along Boon Lay Avenue.
On 23 March 2022, the Police were alerted to a case of a collision between a personal mobility device (PMD) and a pedestrian. The victim was conveyed to the hospital for her injuries.
Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from the Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 20-year-old man and arrested him on 25 March 2022. The PMD was seized as a case exhibit.
The man will be charged in court on 26 March 2022 for negligent act causing grievous hurt under Section 338 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, a fine which may extend to $5,000, or both.
The Police will spare no effort to track down those who commit such brazen acts and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law.
