The Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon and will be charging him in court on 3 June 2022.
On 1 June 2022 at about 4.40pm, the Police received two calls for assistance in the vicinity of Lorong 18 Geylang. Upon Police’s arrival, a 21-year-old man was found with lacerations on his neck and head and was conscious when conveyed to the hospital. It was established that the 45-year-old man had fled prior to Police’s arrival.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the assailant and arrested him within three hours. Police investigations are ongoing.
The 45-year-old man will be charged in court on 3 June 2022 with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon. The offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination of such punishments.
The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and blatant disregard of the law. We will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
