There has been a change of command at Clementi Police Division.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Serene Chiu Lee Ling (周利玲) assumed the command of Clementi Police Division on 29 August 2022. AC Chiu has taken over from AC Marc E Kwan Szer (余光志) who has been seconded to the Ministry of Home Affairs on the same day.
AC Chiu, 47, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1999. She has served 23 years with the SPF and has held several key appointments including Director of the Public Affairs Department, Deputy Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Deputy Director (Resource Management) of the Planning & Organisation Department, and Deputy Director of the Homefront Security Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
AC Marc E, 47, who was appointed Commander of Clementi Police Division on 9 November 2020, joined the SPF in 1999. In his 23 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments including Deputy Director (Security & Readiness) of the Operations Department, Deputy Commander of Tanglin Police Division, and other posts in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Operations Department, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As Commander of Clementi Police Division, AC Marc E led the Division and kept crime in control in spite of policing in a COVID-19 environment. Under AC Marc’s leadership, his officers solved major crimes such as a case of an armed robbery with hurt along Jurong Gateway Road on 19 November 2020; a slashing and stabbing incident along Commonwealth Avenue West on 14 January 2022; and assisted CID to solve the Greenridge Crescent double murder on 21 January 2022. The Division also rolled out key scam-prevention initiatives and is currently working with Shopee Private Limited to launch an upcoming in-app quiz game to raise scam-prevention awareness among its e-commerce platform users. He also led his officers to enhance readiness for public security incidents through operational exercises with community partners from Sentosa and Jurong Island. Working cohesively as a team, Clementi Police Division clinched the Best Land Division Award in 2022.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Clementi Police Division, AC Marc E said, “Policing is a round-the-clock commitment. I deeply appreciate the work of my officers who safeguard every day, and their loved ones who support them. I am also grateful for the strong support from the Division’s community partners. It is an honour and privilege to have served and worked with them to enhance the safety and security of our community. I wish the Division continued success.”
