The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 16 September 2022, at about 8.37am, the Police were alerted to a case where a woman was purportedly molested by an unknown man at the vicinity of Upper Boon Keng Road.
The woman immediately shouted for help and the man fled. Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division, Bedok Police Division, Public Transport Security Command and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man and arrested him within seven hours of the report. Investigations are ongoing.
The man will be charged in court on 17 September 2022 with outrage of modesty, punishable under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
