The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 1 January 2023 at about 7.00am, the Police received a report that a woman was molested on a bus along Commonwealth Drive. The woman immediately alerted the bus driver, who then stopped the man from leaving and called the Police. The man was subsequently arrested at scene by responding police officers.
The man will be charged in court on 2 January 2023. The offence of outrage of modesty, punishable under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871, carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
