The Police have arrested three men and two women, aged between 16 and 23, for their alleged involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means with common intention, and suspected drug-related offences.
On 27 March 2023 at 11:52am, police officers received information of a case of assault along Jalan Kubor. Officers responded to the scene and discovered blood stains in a hotel room. A 19-year-old woman was found with lacerations and was conveyed conscious to the hospital. She was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means with common intention and suspected drug-related offences.
Through ground enquiries and the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the persons involved and conducted a manhunt. Three men and one other woman were placed under arrest within 24 hours of the report.
A 23-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man will be charged in court on 29 March 2023 with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means with common intention under Section 324 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. A 22-year-old man will be charged in court on 30 March 2023 for the same offence.
The offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means under Section 324 of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, a fine or caning, or any combination of the punishments.
The Police take a serious view of violent offences carried out with premeditation. We will spare no effort to ensure that such criminals who endanger the public’s sense of safety and security are dealt with firmly and severely in accordance with the law.
