Four Men Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapon With Common Intention

The Police have arrested four men, aged between 23 and 45, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention.

On 10 June 2023 at about 3.40am, the Police were conducting patrol in the vicinity of Middle Road where they came across two men who were allegedly assaulted by four other men. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of the images from CCTV, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the four men and arrested them. Preliminary investigations revealed that three of the men had allegedly used a metal pole and broken beer bottles to cause bodily injuries to the two men over service payment. The two men sustained deep lacerations on their forearm, forehead and eyelid. They were conveyed conscious to the hospital for treatment and discharged on the same day.

The four men will be charged in court on 17 June 2023 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention under Section 324 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination of such punishments.
