Police Community Roadshow 2023 At One Punggol, Featuring Island-Wide Launch Of ‘Coffee With A Cop’

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) Police Community Roadshow (PCR) has made a comeback after a five-year hiatus. The PCR 2023 reinforces the importance of community support and partnership in keeping Singapore safe and secure, and seeks to give visitors an authentic policing experience, one that engages all the senses, and shares our officers’ policing journey.

The re-start of the PCR was held on 17 June 2023 at One Punggol, together with the launch of the ‘Coffee with a Cop’ (CWC) initiative. Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security, Mr Teo Chee Hean, also attended the event.

The ‘Coffee with a Cop’ (CWC) initiative was trialled from June 2022  across three Neighbourhood Police Centres (NPCs).[1] Its aim is to provide a platform for the SPF’s Community Policing Officers to engage members of the public through informal chats over a beverage, to enable the public to understand more about SPF’s work, and for the Police to share crime prevention advisories, and promote our volunteer schemes. These chats will be held monthly by different Neighbourhood Police Centres (NPCs) from 17 June 2023 onwards, at pre-identified food and beverage establishments. The NPCs will publish the details on their social media platforms ahead of each session.

This year’s PCR features the latest technologies and equipment used by the SPF to keep our community safe and secure. They include unmanned aerial vehicles, the Next Generation Frontline Response Car, and various weaponry. There will also be live demonstrations of the SPF’s capabilities, and performances by the SPF band and the Police K-9 unit. In addition, visitors can experience hands-on, crime scene investigations in a mock-up scene.

A ‘MATA-verse’ Roblox game will also be launched at the roadshow. Through the characters in the game, players can experience in a virtual environment the work of a police officer, by navigating through a Police obstacle course, pursuing and arresting a criminal, and detecting wanted persons. Upon completing the missions, they can unlock exclusive uniforms and vehicles, and rise in their rank.

Visitors who visit the PCR dressed in blue and post their experience on their social media accounts with the hashtag #BlueforMATA, will stand a chance to redeem an exclusive diecast model police car,[2] in addition to various freebies which are available exclusively at the PCR.

The PCR at One Punggol will be held over two days from 17-18 June 2023. It will then move to Toa Payoh Hub the following weekend, from 24-25 June 2023. For more information on the PCR 2023, members of the public can visit www.police.gov.sg/roadshow or scan the QR code in the poster (refer to Annex A).
