The Police have arrested a 47-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 10 August at about 5.10 pm, the Police received a report that a man had purportedly molested two women at the vicinity of Tampines Central.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs and Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report.
The man will be charged in court on 12 August 2023 with outrage of modesty, under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community, and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. The Police would also like to urge members of the public to remain vigilant, and if they witness an incident of outrage of modesty or are aware of someone being a victim of outrage of modesty, to report the matter to the Police immediately.
