The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the National Crime Prevention Council jointly organised the Delta League tournament this year from 20 November till 23 December 2023. Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development, A/P Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, attended the Grand Finals as the Guest of Honour. The finale event was held on Saturday, 23 December 2023, at Our Tampines Hub.
This is the 25th edition of the Delta League since June 2011, where sports is used to engage youths and keep them meaningfully occupied during the school holidays in June and December. The Delta League continues to feature the popular football component alongside the increasingly popular e-sports gaming competition to sustain engagement with different segments of the youth population.
For this edition, a total of 118 teams, consisting of 1,042 youths aged between 13 and 17, pitted their wits and skills over either football or e-gaming. 78 teams participated in the football tournament under three different categories – Category 1: Boys 13-14yrs, Category 2: Boys 15-17yrs and Girls’ Open Category. As for the e-gaming tournament, a total of 40 teams competed against one another in the Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang (MLBB) game under the Open Category (13-17yrs). Both formats demand strong tactical abilities, planning, adaptation, and teamwork from all the participants.
Besides their participation in the football and e-gaming competition, the youths were also involved in different fun-filled activities to enhance their crime prevention awareness and to inculcate a sense of social responsibility, teamwork, and discipline. This edition started with the popular Amazing Race activity at Sentosa island on 20 November 2023. This allowed the youths to be exposed to team-building activities and crime prevention education in a different way in an outdoor environment.
As part of the Community Day activities, the youths were brought to the Home Team Festival (HTF 2023) and Bedok Youth Carnival on 25-26 November 2023 at Singapore Expo and Bedok Town Square respectively. At the events, the participants, guided by their Police Mentors, also shared crime prevention materials and tips to the visiting members of the public.
We look forward to engaging more youths and seeing new faces in the next edition of Delta League 2024.
