The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of unlawful discharge of dangerous fireworks.
On 9 April 2024 at 10.42pm, the Police responded to an incident of unlawful discharge of fireworks at Blk 642 Yishun Street 61. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and closed-circuit television (CCTV), officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 14 April 2024.
The man will be charged in court on 16 April 2024 with the offence of discharge of dangerous fireworks under Section 3(1)(b) of the Dangerous Fireworks Act 1972. The offence is punishable by an imprisonment term of up to two years or with a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000, or both.
Members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to possess, sell, transport, send, deliver, distribute or import and dangerous fireworks. The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others as well as cause undue alarm to the public, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
