The Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft and mischief.
On 24 May 2024, the Police were alerted to a case of alleged theft of carpark gantry barrier arms and mischief causing damage to the building management’s wheel clamps along Buroh Street.
Through ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man on the same day and subsequently arrested him on 12 June 2024. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly used a metal cutter to damage two wheel-clamps, approximately valued at S$500. He was further alleged to have removed the building’s carpark gantry barrier arms and kept them in his shop premise within the building. The man purportedly posted videos of his blatant acts on social media.
The man will be charged in court on 13 June 2024 with the offences of theft under Section 379 of Penal Code 1871 and mischief under Section 426 of Penal Code 1871. The offence of theft carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both. The offence of mischief carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine, or both.
The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
