Four Teenagers Arrested For Consorting With Persons Armed With Offensive Weapons And Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapons

The Police have arrested four male teenagers, aged between 17 and 19, for their suspected involvement in a case of consorting with persons armed with offensive weapons and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.

On 15 June 2024 at about 4.10am, the Police were alerted to a case of alleged assault at Block 466 Sembawang Drive, where four male subjects were believed to be involved in a fight and one of the subjects allegedly slashed a 20-year-old male victim with a chopper.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the four teenagers. Two 17-year-old male teenagers and one 18-year-old male teenager were arrested on 15 June 2024 for consorting with persons carrying offensive weapons in public places. The 19-year-old male teenager who was armed with the chopper was arrested on 19 June 2024.

The 19-year-old teenager will be charged in court on 20 June 2024 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons under Section 324 Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine, caning or any combination of such punishments. He will also be charged with possession of offensive weapons in a public place under Section 6 of the Corrosive and Offensive Weapons Act 1958. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years and caning with not less than six strokes.

Police investigations are ongoing for the remaining three teenagers.

The Police have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law. The Police would also like to remind members of the public that it is an offence to carry an offensive or scheduled weapon in a public place
