Two Women Arrested For Mischief By Fire With Intent To Cause Damage To Property

The Police have arrested two women, aged 21 and 26, for their suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property. 

On 17 June 2024 at about 10.35pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fire at a residential unit along Canberra Road, where a fire was lit outside the residential unit. 

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identities of the two women and arrested them on 18 June 2024. 

The two women will be charged in court on 20 June 2024 with the offence of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property with common intention under Section 435 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871 and criminal conspiracy to commit mischief by fire with intent to cause damage under Section 435 read with Section 120B of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine. 

The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.
