The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.
On 30 June 2024 at about 1.25pm, the Police received a report that a motorcycle parked along Kaki Bukit Avenue was purportedly stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the duo. On 3 July 2024 at about 9.05pm, the man was arrested by officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for suspected drug-related offences along Sengkang East Way. On 4 July 2024 at about 4pm, the woman was arrested by police officers along Pasir Ris Drive 10. The stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered. Investigations by CNB into the suspected drug-related offences are ongoing.
The duo will be charged in court on 5 July 2024 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your vehicle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle and ensure that it is well-maintained;
- Remove the ignition key whenever the vehicle is left unattended;
- Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
