The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a cheating by personation case.
On 9 July 2024, the 26-year-old driver was stopped during a Police roadblock along Woodlands Avenue 7. Through follow up investigations, officers from the Woodlands Police Division established that the man was disqualified from driving since 22 January 2024 and had allegedly fraudulently obtained his friend’s details to register for a rental vehicle from a car rental company. He is also under investigation for a traffic-related offence.
The man will be charged in court on 10 July 2024 for the offence of cheating by personation under Section 419 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to five years and a fine. Investigations into the traffic-related offence are ongoing.
The Police would like to warn members of the public that it is a serious offence to impersonate another individual and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
