The Police have arrested a man and two women, aged between 18 and 20, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft with common intention.
On 11 November 2024 at about 9.30pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a residential unit along Chai Chee Road. Cash amounting to $500 was purportedly stolen.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the three persons and arrested them within a day. The attires worn when committing the act were seized and cash amounting to $100 was recovered.
The three persons will be charged in court on 14 November 2024 with the offence of housebreaking and theft with common intention under Section 451 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition; and
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises.
