The Police have arrested four men aged between 24 and 30 for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.

On 30 January 2025 at about 8.35pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking and theft at a construction site located along Clementi Road. Copper wire amounting to about $10,000/- was purportedly stolen. Preliminary investigations revealed that the men had allegedly stolen the copper wires and sold them to a scrap metal company.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identities of the four men and arrested them on 4 February 2025.

The four men will be charged in court on 6 February 2025 with housebreaking and theft with common intention under Section 451 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment up to 10 years and a fine.

The owner of the scrap metal company will be investigated under Section 4 of the Secondhand Goods Dealer Act 2007, and the company’s staff who received the copper wires will also be investigated for possible offence of dishonestly receiving stolen property under Section 411 of the Penal Code 1871.
