The Police are investigating 22 individuals and companies for their suspected involvement in fraud by false representation.
On 26 February 2025, the Police and Singapore Customs (“Customs”) conducted a joint enforcement operation and arrested nine individuals. During the operation, the Police raided 22 locations and seized documentary and electronic records.
Arising from the investigations, three men will be charged in Court on 27 February 2025 for fraud by false representation. Two men, aged 40 and 48, will be charged for criminal conspiracy to commit fraud on a supplier of servers by fraudulently making false representation. One other man, aged 51, will be charged for committing fraud on a supplier of servers by fraudulently making false representation.
These offences carry an imprisonment term of up to 20 years, or a fine, or both. Police investigations are ongoing against the other individuals and companies.
Customs are also investigating to ascertain if offences under the Customs Act 1960 and the Regulation of Imports & Exports Act 1995 have been committed.
The Police and Customs take a serious view of the offences and will not hesitate to act against businesses and individuals who engage in dishonest and criminal practices.
