Launch Of Episodic Volunteering Programme At The Singapore Police Force Volunteer Networking Session 2025

On 8 March 2025, Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, officially launched the Episodic Volunteering Programme (EVP) at the Singapore Police Force (SPF) Volunteer Networking Session 2025 1 , which was attended by about 500 SPF volunteers, their family and friends, volunteer managers and SPF officers.

The EVP is a new skill-based volunteering programme within the SPF volunteer eco-system. It offers flexible volunteer opportunities, which are primarily short-term gig assignments or projects that leverage volunteers’ skillsets. It aims to make volunteering with the SPF more accessible to accommodate the diverse lifestyles of our volunteers. Most of the volunteer roles offered under the EVP are on an ad hoc basis and depending on the requirements, some positions also allow for remote volunteering (i.e. offsite) within Singapore.

Since its trial in November 2023, 16 roles have been successfully matched with 56 EVP volunteers. Details of the EVP requirements and opportunities can be found in Annex A.

Director of the Community Partnership Department, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Sherrin Chua said, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all SPF volunteers, as well as their family and friends, for their steadfast support and commitment to ensuring Singapore’s safety and security. Together, with their combined efforts, we can continue to build a safer and more secure Singapore.”

1The SPF Volunteer Networking Session was first introduced in 2024 with the aim to foster and strengthen the volunteer community within SPF
. This platform was also created for the SPF to extend our appreciation to them for committing their time to join as an SPF volunteer and affirm the importance of their contributions, and to thank their family and friends for their unwavering support and the key role they play to keep our communities safe and secure.
