Taking the crime prevention message onto our MRT stations!

The Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) unveiled the first Police concept train at Harbourfront MRT Station on 2 November 2023. The concept train seeks to raise awareness of outrage of modesty and molestation cases on the public land transport network. Cautionary messages are displayed prominently on the floors as well as on the sides of the cabin’s interior to warn would-be perpetrators of the consequences and penalties for their crimes.
This is the first of five concept trains to be rolled out, and the initiative is expected to be fully implemented by February 2024. The initiative is supported by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), SBS Transit and the SMRT Corporation (SMRT).
Similarly-themed messages focusing on the offence of taking upskirt photos or videos at the public land transport network will also be displayed on the platform screen doors and escalators of selected MRT stations and on the advertisement panels of selected bus interchanges.
During the event, Commander TransCom, Assistant Commissioner of Police Masagoes Idris Hussain, presented the Public Spiritedness Award to a member of the public for assisting the Police in a case of voyeurism. Three organisations and eight staff were also commended for their strong community partnership with the Police.
TransCom will continue to work with its stakeholders and the public to enhance the safety and security of Singapore’s public land transport network.
