It’s a day that brings Police officers together to renew their pledge to serve Singapore with Courage, Loyalty, Integrity and Fairness – Police Day. Commemorated annually on 3 June since 1971, Police Day recognises the contributions of our officers and celebrates the achievements of the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

The highlight of Police Day was the Police Day Parade, held on 3 June at the Home Team Academy (HTA). This year’s Parade, held in Harmony Hall due to wet weather, had over 640 participants comprising officers from the Police Land Divisions, specialist units and the Volunteer Special Constabulary, as well as Cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps.

Presiding over the Parade this year was Mr Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister (SM) and Coordinating Minister for National Security. Noting the contributions of the SPF in keeping Singapore safe and secure, he thanked officers for their commitment to safeguarding Singapore.

“Our Police officers work tirelessly to keep Singapore safe and secure, continually adapting to technological advances and the evolving security landscape,” said SM Teo. “On this Police Day, let us honour the contributions and sacrifices of all Police officers, recognise their commitment and dedication, and thank them for their service to the nation.”

Recognising Our Best
SM Teo also presented awards for the Best Land Division, the Best National Service (NS) Operationally Ready Unit, Best Full-time Police National Service officers and Best Police National Servicemen of the Year.

Three in a row: AC Serene Chiu, Commander of Clementi Police Division, receiving the Best Land Division Award from SM Teo.

For Clementi Police Division, good things come in threes as 2024 marked the third year running that it had received the Best Land Division Award, an achievement that drew a rousing cheer from guests.

“Winning the Best Land Division award for the third consecutive year is a testament to the steadfast dedication, consistent operational excellence, and professionalism of our officers in Clementi Police Division,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Serene Chiu, Commander of Clementi Police Division. “This achievement is also a reflection of the strong partnerships we have built with our community stakeholders and volunteers. Their vigilance, cooperation and support have been invaluable in our collective efforts to fight crime and maintain peace and safety.”

This year’s Best NS Operationally Ready Unit Award went to Airport Police Division (APD), also for the third year running. “This achievement clearly demonstrates NSmen’s commitment to excellence for the SPF,” said Superintendent of Police (Supt) (NS) Shaikh Abdullah, NS Commander of APD. “A well-deserved recognition of the efforts and sacrifices made by all APD NSmen and their families.”

It wasn’t only at the HTA that the Police spirit shone. The Police National Service Department had partnered with HomeTeamNS (HTNS) to provide a “live” screening of the Police Day Parade for fellow Police National Service (PNS) officers at the HTNS Bedok Reservoir Clubhouse. Over 60 guests covering three generations of PNS officers – comprising former PNS officers, active PNS officers and PNS (Full-time) officers – attended this special event.

Congratulations to our 2024 award recipients and well done to all the officers who gave their best for Police Day Parade 2024!
