In the Public View at the National Day Parade (NDP)…
Amidst the red and white of the NDP, you’re sure to catch a glimpse of blue as well. Curious about the vital role played by Police officers at this year’s celebrations? Here are some of the most prominent sightings of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on National Day!
Playing Our Part Behind the Scenes…
Away from the spotlight, our officers have also given their very best to make this year’s NDP a special one. Here are just some of the ways that our officers worked to ensure a safe and secure National Day celebration for all!
A View from the Ground
Among the officers on duty at this year’s NDP was Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (NS) Illias Bin Mohammad Iqbal. As a Sector OIC of personal check stations in the vicinity of Esplanade Bridge, he manages a team of 50 officers. “We conduct screenings of everyone who enters the NDP area, to provide a safe and secure environment for all,” he explained.
As Head, Land Checkpoints & Statutory Boards Division, with the auxiliary police force Certis CISCO, DSP (NS) Illias is well-versed in matters related to event security, and is especially mindful of the need to support his ProCom officers so that they can carry out their duties effectively.
“NDP duty is challenging, with complex coordination and a need for constant focus,” he explained. “What’s exciting about it is that we get to contribute to security on this special day. What better event to protect than Singapore’s 59th NDP?”
Our thanks to all our officers for their hard work on National Day!
