As F1 drivers pursued sporting excellence at this year’s Singapore F1 Grand Prix, they found their dedication and sense of urgency matched by that of officers of the Singapore Police Force (SPF). Over the F1 weekend, our officers worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of one of Singapore's most anticipated annual sporting events.
Every year, Police officers play a critical role behind the scenes, working in close collaboration with event organisers, auxiliary police partners and officers from a range of public agencies. Together, they mount a comprehensive, multi-day operation to safeguard drivers, racing teams and the tens of thousands of spectators at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Months of planning went into ensuring a comprehensive plan and its execution. The SPF conducted extensive risk assessments and threat analyses, crafting a security plan to address operational challenges and ensure the race proceeded smoothly.
Just as F1 drivers aimed for the perfect lap during the race, our Ground Response Force officers conducted patrols of the Circuit, maintaining a vigilant presence, monitoring potential threats and swiftly responding to any incidents.
Amidst the high-octane atmosphere, did you catch a glimpse of officers in beige berets? That’s right, our Protective Security Command (ProCom) officers also played a vital role on the ground in managing security risks. Their keen situational awareness and readiness ensured that the event proceeded without a hitch.
Specialist units such as the Special Operations Command (SOC) were also on standby, ready to respond in the event of an emergency. Their presence provided an additional layer of assurance to spectators.
With thousands of spectators at the race venue, SPF officers were also integral in crowd management, ensuring smooth movement and preventing overcrowding at popular sites along the Circuit. They worked closely with event staff and auxiliary officers to assist and guide members of the public when needed.
As the chequered flag waved for the winner of this year’s Singapore F1 Grand Prix, it also marked a job well done by our officers. Their coordinated efforts ensured the safety and security of all participants and spectators, contributing to yet another successful edition of the Singapore F1! Well done to our officers.
