When the SPF Special Women Task Team met the TANGO Coy of Hong Kong Police Force!
By: SPF Insider
From 14 to 18 October 2024, the Special Women Task Team (SWTT) of the Special Operations Command (SOC) welcomed officers from the TANGO Company (TANGO Coy) of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) for a professional exchange and training visit.
Similar to SWTT officers, HKPF TANGO Coy is an all-female unit specialising in managing public order incidents involving vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly. Both teams play essential roles in providing an intermediary option for handling passive protests and demonstrations.
During the week-long visit, the HKPF TANGO Coy delegation observed SWTT's Annual Recertification Course, which highlights the Police Tactical Unit’s (PTU) strategies and protocols in public order management. The officers also explored the Police Heritage Centre and Volunteer Special Constabulary (VSC) Headquarters, learning about the Singapore Police Force's history and exchanging best practices with SWTT, PTU, and VSC officers.
This collaboration has fostered a stronger partnership between SWTT and HKPF TANGO Coy, with both units gaining valuable insights into each other's approaches to managing public events. SWTT would like to convey our deepest appreciation to PTU, VSC and the Police Heritage Centre for facilitating this visit.
