The National Day Parade 2015 will be held on Sunday, 9 August 2015, at the Padang.

SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS

Large crowds are expected at the Float @ Marina Bay, Esplanade Waterfront Promenade, Merlion Park, Promontory, Marina Bay Sands Waterfront, Gardens by the Bay and Marina Barrage. The public is advised to be vigilant and to safeguard their belongings.

Members of public attending the National Day Parade at the Padang are advised to arrive early to allow ample time for security checks. The gates will be open at 3.30 pm. Checks on persons and belongings will be conducted as a condition of entry into the Padang to ensure safety and security at the event. The public is advised to minimise the amount of personal belongings brought into the venue to facilitate quick security clearance.

Any container (100ml capacity or larger) containing liquid, aerosol or gel will be subjected to additional checks. Canned drinks and canned items will not be allowed into the venue. Each ticket holder will receive a NDP Fun Pack which includes items such as bottles of water, packet drinks and light snacks. Actions may be taken against anyone who attempts to bring in prohibited items listed in Annex A.

Members of public should also note that it is also an offence to fly an unmanned aircraft into or within a Special Event Area (refer to Annex B) without a valid permit. This refers to the operation of an unmanned aircraft that disrupts, interferes with, delays or obstructs the conduct of the NDP or any activity associated with the NDP, whether the unmanned aircraft is within or outside the Special Event Area.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

To facilitate the event, there would be road closures and changes in vehicular traffic directions around the area. Please see Annex C for the timings of the road closures and the changes in traffic direction.

During the events, access to the roads and lanes will only be granted to authorised vehicles displaying the approved labels as well as Police and emergency vehicles. Auxiliary Police officers, Police officers and SAF marshals will be deployed at the affected junctions to assist and direct motorists. Public bus services affected by the road closures will be diverted. Those travelling to these affected areas are strongly advised to use public transport.

Traffic delays are expected along North Bridge Road, Beach Road, Bras Basah Rd, Hill Street, Cecil Street, Collyer Quay, Battery Road, Bayfront Avenue, Marina Boulevard, Marina Gardens Drive, Marina Mall, Mountbatten Road, Tanjong Rhu Road, Rhu Cross, Stadium Crescent, Stadium Walk and Stadium Way. Motorists are strongly advised to plan their route early or to take public transport to the areas.

Motorists proceeding to the vicinity of Suntec City and Marina Square are advised to use alternate routes via East Coast Parkway (ECP) expressway, Sheares Avenue or Rochor Road in view of the closure along Nicoll Highway and Bras Basah Road. Those heading to Sports Hub are advised to use Stadium Road via Nicoll Highway in the direction of Guillemard Road and to use Stadium Way to get to Singapore Indoor Stadium and its vicinity. For those proceeding to Marina Bay Sands, they are advised to use Bayfront Avenue in the direction of Marina Boulevard via Temasek Avenue in the direction of Bayfront Avenue.

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed.

POST-EVENT DISPERSAL

After the Parade has ended, dispersal is likely to be slow due to the large crowds expected in the Marina Bay area. The public is advised to be patient and to follow the directions of the SAF marshals as well as the Police.

As City Hall, Promenade and Bayfront MRT Stations are expected to be very crowded during dispersal, commuters should head towards alternative ones such as Raffles Place, Esplanade, Bugis or Clarke Quay MRT Stations. Adequate signs will be in place to direct commuters to these MRT Stations.

Members of public may contact the organiser at the hotline: 1800-637 2015 for further enquiries on the event and road closures.

*Please refer to Annex A for the List of Prohibited Items, Annex B for the map of the Special Zone within the Special Event Area and Annex C for the map of Special Event Areas.
