Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force was conferred the Distinguished Service Order by Singapore’s President on 15 October 2024.

Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan Bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of Police (CP) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), was conferred the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Distinguished Service Order) by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 15 October 2024 at the Istana.
Instituted in 1968, the Order may be awarded in special circumstances, to any person who has performed outside Singapore any acts constituting distinguished conduct.
CP Dato Mohammad Irwan was appointed Commissioner of Police of the RBPF on 22 June 2019. Under his leadership, the bilateral relationship between the RBPF and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was strengthened, underpinned by close cooperation in capacity and capability building. CP Dato Mohammad Irwan strongly supported mutual training exchanges between the two Police forces, which helped hone the specialised skillsets of officers.
This close cooperation between the two forces underscores his commitment to advancing bilateral ties, contributing to the safety and security of both nations.
CP Hoong Wee Teck highlighted the enduring partnership, “The SPF and RBPF enjoy a longstanding partnership built on mutual trust and unwavering commitment to fighting crime. We will continue to strengthen this partnership and leverage our combined expertise to better safeguard our nations.”
While in Singapore, CP Dato Mohammad Irwan also made courtesy calls on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong and CP Hoong.
